Due to developments in the Amsterdam-Central Station area, departures from the jetty behind the station are, as of now, impossible. However, the quay opposite the Central Station near the IJ-plein on the other side of the IJ, is the perfect alternative.
IJplein(Wilhelminadok)
By bicycle or on foot:
Behind the Central Station, cross the IJ by ferry, free of charge, head for IJplein- Meeuwenlaan. The ferry boats are on your left-hand side, coming from CS. The ferry crosses four times per hour and departs 5 minutes past the hour and every consecutive quarter of an hour. Between 16.00 en 18.00 pm, the ferry crosses eight times per hour. On arriving in Noord, head to the right and follow the water for a hundred meters. The orange building Wilhelmina Dok is in full view. Clipper Avontuur is waiting for you there, about half an hour before the start of your trip.A ferry (direction IJ-plein, free of charge) will take you across the IJ in less than 5 minutes, at 15 minute intervals.
The IJ-plein pick-up point is accessible by car.

Exit S116, direction Noord/Centrum (IJ-tunnel). Aim for Industrieterrein Noord (to be precise; the second exit) up the slope past the BP petrol station. For the moment, the situation is confusing due to road construction in connection with the Metro. At the traffic lights at the top of the flyover take a left turn and get in the right-hand lane. At the traffic lights on top of the flyover take a left turn and get in the right-hand lane, in order to TAKE A RIGHT TURN BEFORE THE NEXT TRAFFIC LIGHT, direction industrie Noord, 300-349. You are on the Johan van Hasseltweg now. At the roundabout, take a right turn and continue until you see the Dirk van den Broek supermarket on your left. Take a left turn and an immediate right turn to the service road. This road is called the Gedempte Insteekhaven. Nearly there, now. Continue down the road and don’t get alarmed by the dead-end road sign. At the end of the road, as it happens, you will see an orange building rearing it’s head above the dyke, Wilhelmina-Dok. This is a blue zone, where you can park your car, free of charge, for 2,5 hours. Free parking for a longer period is allowed in the streets situated before you reach the Dirk van den Broek supermarket.
By car from the City Centre
Take the IJ-tunnel, first exit after the tunnel turn right. At the roundabout, first exit Meeuwenlaan. Further along, this street will be called IJ-plein.
Parking
The IJ-plein area is a blue zone, see map below (neighbourhood). In a blue zone parking is allowed for two hours maximum., even in weekends and during the night.
A parking disc (this is a device that enables authorities to check how long your car has been there) is compulsory. In the area north of Dirk van den Broek supermarket there are no parking regulations. From here, a 10 minute stroll will take you to the ship's pick-up point.

Avontuur usually departs from Amsterdam . The Oude Houthaven is its berth, when not rented out. This is a pick-up point as well.
De Oude Houthaven
On foot Exit Amsterdam Central Station north (IJ zijde) exit. Turn left, follow the Binnen IJ westward. After 20 minutes, just past the Y Tech building, take the alley on your right (at the red TPG mailbox). At the end, turn left. Just ahead, you ‘ll spot the Avontuur, with its tall mast and black hull.
By bus Bus 48 departs from City side Central Station at least twice every hour, second stop Tasmanstraat.
Night bus 353, stop Tasmanstraat.
By tram Tram 3, last stop Zoutkeetsplein
By car Ring A10, exit S102, direction Centrum. After 2,9 km, just short of the bridge turn left and park your car on the Houtmankade. Parking costs € 2,20 for an hour or € 19,80 for a day. Parking is free of charge on a Sunday. From here, it's only a short walk to the Avontuur.
Parking free of charge in the industrial zone at the Archangelkade, which is a 10 minute walk from the Avontuur.

The Calamiteitensteiger in the Buiten IJ From the Ring, exit Artis & Zeeburg S114, then, at the ring road, take the exit at the Shell petrol station "Kriterion" and continue on the dead-end road. At the end of about three hundred meters, take a right turn. About a hundred meters along this road, you will find a Calamiteitensteiger road sign, where the Avontuur can moor to pick you up.

There is a lot of construction going on, the parking at "Kriterion" is used as a storage for construction materials, Ponyclub Jolly Jumper has relocated. There is no parking available.

Avontuur is instantly recognized by the graceful white curls on its black bow, and two white lines along its black side. Moreover, when guests are expected, we always hoist the enormous Avontuur flag with its 1m. high letters. Guests arriving in the evening will recognize the ship from its neon Avontuur sign.
